Paul has performed on Broadway (Shenandoah, Kings), Off Broadway (My Old Friends) and Off-Off Broadway (The Gilded Cage). He has been a Guest Artist at colleges and universities across the country. Paul studied theatre at San Jose State University earning both a BA (Drama) and an MA (Theatre Arts). He also trained at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco, and with Wynn Handman in New York. Favorite roles include Cervantes/Quixote in Man of La Mancha (eight productions over four decades), Lear in King Lear, Billy Flynn in Chicago, Caldwell B. Cladwell in Urinetown: The Musical, Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady, Mack the Knife in The Three Penny Opera, and Trigorin in The Sea Gull. He received a Bay Area Theatre Critics award for Outstanding Achievement for his supporting roles as Major Bouvier/Norman Vincent Peale in TheatreWorks’ production of Grey Gardens. Paul is also a theatre critic with twenty-five years experience in the Bay Area and since moving to Southern California last August has seen and reviewed over seventy productions in Greater Los Angles and Orange County.
