Bill Jackson – Open Fist has been good to me. They’ve let me play in their yard – The Scottish Tragedy, Stage Door, The Devil with Boobs, Foote Notes, The Good Woman of Szechuan, Land of the Astronauts, Comedy of Errors, Machinal. And I guess I’ve been good to them, too with schlepping and hanging and painting and cleaning and box officing and ushering and bar tending – that covers most of it. If you’re new to the company I hope you’ll enjoy your tenure as much as I have mine.
Oh, a bio. If you don’t count narrating my 6th grade Christmas Pageant and all the radio production at San Mateo High School and SMJC, I’ve been acting since 1978 when a small dinner theater in Montrose let me be Velasco in Barefoot in the Park – and the Captain in Mr. Roberts and Murray in 1000 Clowns and Wilson in Harvey. During that time someone saw fit to put me in a McDonalds commercial, take me in to their agency and put me in a whole bunch of TV shows. Still do a commercial now and then and a tv show. If season 3 of Transparent ever comes out I’m in episode 306. And I’ve done a lot of other theater in LA. I won’t bore you with titles. Movies, yeah, some of them too – nothing big. My paying job for much of this time was running the traffic information radio station at LAX – you could hear me on AM 530 when you came to the airport. What else? Stanford gave me a degree – why they let me in I’ll never know. Was married once – have two wonderful daughters and two grown up grandsons. Live in Silver Lake. If you need more info my Wanted poster may still be up at your local post office. Thanks for listening (or reading.)
